26-Jan-2001 Markatron's commentary on the Car Robot brother drawings

Car Robot Wild Ride

Wild Ride was my first drawing from the Transformers: Car Robots series. I really liked his huge arm. Of course, this drawing puts that big fist right in your face.

I really enjoy the toy and I had a lot of fun posing it and drawing the details. Wild Ride is a great action figure and is currently standing in my room in this pose. :)

I got some screencaps from Transformer World 2005's Car Robot screen cap archive.

Car Robot Speed Breaker
Drawing Speed Breaker was the most fun out of these three. I really loved the pose but maybe the hand holding the knife is not as distinguishable as I'd like. I have in mind to have this colored and the white fist holding a chrome knife will come out in such a colored version.

_IF_ I did backgrounds. He'd probably be shielding some beautiful red sports car from stray Destronger fire. Probably some blur lines to show how he's diving into this protective stance.

Again, this is a very toy loyal portrayal. I posed the toy on my desk and started drawing every little detail. Unlike G1 robots, I don't have to add any of my own stuff. On the downside, there is A LOT OF DETAIL that needs to be captured in all of these Transformers: Car Robots.

And I just love his helmet with the transparent yellow plastic over one eye and over part of his "brain". Toy commentary: He's got too much back kibble. There's just no where to store the split halves of the hood (and connected doors). They just hang there. Still, for a quality vehicle (Dodge Viper) with Beast Wars poseability, how can you go wrong with a toy like this?

Car Robot Mach Alert
Mach Alert delivers quite a bit of intensity with a fairly "boring" pose. He's just standing there, ya know.

But he looks downright intimidating. This Transformer mean's business!

Even tho this is drawn from the toy, the spoiler/trunk section that is over his left hand has been shrunk down from it's original size. Also, strictly speaking, the fireball launchers should be on his right hand. (The launchers are on the spoiler in car mode.) But I drew it this way fully knowing how things are "supposed to be". Also, the doors (hip shields) are swung back out of the way.

No one is paying me to plug these toys but again, I do like the toy. While both cars are not as bulky as the G1 cars, I don't consider them spindly. This pose is a "stretch" since Mach Alert can't quite do the splits like that _and_ the trunk blocks the arm from raising that high with the shoulder armor in that position.
