Markatron's Galleria - The Early Years

Every budding fan-artist had to start somewhere...

Much of Markatron's work was drawn before digital screens or holographic displays. Here you will find books and scrolls covered with dust. A few old-style wall frames give you an idea of how far Markatron has developed his art style.

Added SIX old robots to the "Early Years"

I laugh out loud looking over some of these guys. Fortunately, you'll be spared the most dismal of robots, the simplest of designs, the most blatant rip-offs.

But like writing, we tend to start out mimicking what we like. My roots were in Go-bots, Mighty Orbots, and Transformers. I'd inject some meager creativity and juvinile innovation here and there. But for the most part, these robots are blocky and ugly.

Hopefully, once you've cringed your way through this page, you'll gain an appreciation for my later works. Ha ha!

Transbots: They are my equivalent of the Heroic Autobots or Guardian Go-bots. They are living robots who have landed on earth to continue their struggle against evil robots invading earth.

SHARK robots: They are the Evil Decepticons or Renegade Go-bot group. Your basic malcontent robots driven to conquer yet another planet. From the looks of it, they probably don't control too many systems anyway.
I never did figure out an ensignia for this group.

Thunder Falcons: A specialized group of Transbots who are more aggressive and impressive than your run-of-the-mill Transbot. These guys are built and trained for warfare.

More than just copy-cats and mimics of Go-bots or Transformers

Yes, it took hundreds of drawings but I finally got my own style and ideas! There will still be plenty of moments when you'll think "hey, where have I seen a toy like that before". But hopefully, they will be fewer and farther between.

You should be seeing influences from Robotech (Harmony Gold), Convertors (Mark/Select) and more advanced Transformers (Hasbro).

By this time, Go-bots were an abhorent abomination. The advent of the Go-bots cartoon only deepened my hatred for them. Very few, if any robots from here on out will resemble (or take inspiration from) Tonka Go-bots.
